I can still remember sitting in this vegetable garden after the harvest. It was a plein-air excursion I took with some other artists in Woodstock where I used to paint every week. My first watercolor experience was Chinese brush painting using inks, and this painting was kind of a throwback to that experience. I didn’t make a drawing first, but just attuned to the plant shapes as they twisted and turned in their decaying form. This image became another placemat which I laminated, gave as gifts and eventually made to sell at crafts events and art shows.
Includes 4 matching placemats, 12" x 18"
